Default Front sprocket

I ordered a new sprocket set and chain for my bike and discovered that the front sprocket is on back order and won't even have any availability until 9/28. I ordered a set of ebay a week or two ago and just got around to putting it on now. I know the front rubber gasket thing is just to silence it and even saw a video show that the new sprocket wouldn't have that. Also in the video I noticed that the sprocket was just a regular sprocket but didn't notice on his original there is another rubber gasket behind it. Is this not necessary to keep dirt out of the seal and I can in fact use the sprocket or would this be a bad idea. The splines line up perfect and it's the exact same size.
