Broken Footpeg?

Hey, I just bought an 08 Ninja 650r and, with my luck I lowsided the bike within an hour of getting it =[. Besides some scrapes the bikes alright.. However, the left footpeg broke off, part of the body its attached to came with it.. would using something like J-B Weld (or Super Glue??) be good enough to attach it back, or am I looking at a much more expensive fix? Thanks!

Congrats on the new ride, sorry about the down. But at least your safe and the bike isnt bad off. Do not try to super glue that, lol. It needs to support your weight, JB weld might not work well because of whatever those things are made of. I am assuming by "part of the body" you mean the Rearset which mounts the peg to the frame. The left side is usually easy to come by on ebay and if you cant find it there your looking at about $50 for a new one. Let us know how it goes.

Welcome to KF!

hahaha so thats what its called! im new to bikes, im a mustang guy lol. Is it just a matter of taking out the fairing (?) and put it in place of the stock (broken) rearset? does the gear shift lever go over or is that not connected to the rear set?

Hehehe, you confused me with your terminology so I had to look it up. (Fairings are the plastics ;) )

That is alot of metal to replace if I'm looking at this correctly. Generally the Rider and passenger pegs are separated, but from what I'm seeing you have a big hunk of metal holding both.

Here is the fiche

If I'm reading correctly the part that you broke is number 35063/A which they call a step stay since it holds both pegs unlike a typical rearset. That site has it listed for $90, you can probably find it cheaper somewhere else but still with a new peice you will have to swap the old hardware for the pegs. I would look on ebay and see if you can find the whole thing for cheaper and less work.

From what I can see your shifter mounts straight to the gearbox, not the rearset so you should be good on that, of course you can see better than I can.

Buy the required part. Good luck and stop low siding it! lol Glad that you are OK and welcome to KF.
