Anyone go up from a 500 to this bike yet? Just wanted to know what your impressions are. How is the handling compared to the 500? Which do you like more?

No, but I seriously looked at that ride for this year. I did not buy it though. Not much was available for tweaking the suspension then and still! I still like the 650 specs and looks though.

 

Of course there's always the Suzuki SV650 which is in this class. I guess if people go out to a 650 that's the more popular one, or they go to a super sport

 

I'm currently looking for a black 2006, as soon as I find one in the dallas, tx area...I'm selling or trading my 500. I'll keep you posted...hoping this will occur no later than november.

 

I was wondering the same thing, if anyone's taken the 650 for a spin, or bought it. I'm really interested in it. I have a 500R right now and love it to death. I like the fact that the 650 is still an in-line 2 cyl. and that it is digitally fuel injected. I hope this means that it will get about the same gas mileage as my 500 and that here in the Tundra of Michigan the cold starts won't be as tough and it will warm up a bit quicker... anyone who has the 650 or knows someone who does, get posting... you're wanted.

 

I did the plunge this last month. 04' 500R to 06' 650r. What sucks is i live in North Dakota and the snow just won't quit lately, so I can't ride it. Its irony really, the past 5 years we've had dry warm winters. Now this one is the change... I will let you know.

I was impressed with my dealer here.When I was looking at them;I was not impressed with the red colored one he had. I asked him if he could get a black one still in the crate. 5 minutes later he found one in Nebraska and had the other dealership on the phone. He had it for me in a weekwith no freight charges and gave me a good deal IMO on my trade in. Lets say almost 600 more then Kelly blue book listedmy500rfor.
