Hey guys I have a relatively new ninja 500 with only 1300 miles on it. Today I was riding and I ran out of gas. I switched the tank over to the reserve and rode to the gas station. On the way to the gas station I realized that my speedometer was broken and I thought that maybe it was just because my tank was switched to the reserve. So I filled it up with gas and went to drive home and I reset my odometer and realized that neither of them are working. If anyone knows anything about this situation or how to fix it please help out. Thanks!

 

If it's like the ninja 250 then the sensor is on the front wheel on our left side if your sitting on your bike. Check the cable and or if there are wires going to it.

 

on the 500 its in the same place. left side of the front wheel. its common for the cable to come undone. either at the wheel or at the gauges. put some BLUE threadlocker on it when you put it back on and it shouldnt happen again.

Is it common for this to happen, cuz I'm starting to think that the dealership sold me a lemon.

 

all of a sudden one day mine did it ...i thought it was a joke some @ss was playin on me, couple days later it happened again, then one day i checked and hand tightened it b4 i left ...75 miles later i reached under to check it and it was 3 threads or so loose...little threadlock and np since

 

 

happend to me all the time on my first bike dood its all good put it back in

i forgot to say earlier, if the cable is still connected at both ends, then its broken internally.

 

Hey guys thanks for thehelp. After two days I finally found the wire and it was just hanging there. I unscrewed the dash board and stuck my hands in there and screwed it back in. I'm gonna get some threadlock so it wont happen again.
