I was warned
well I had rode on the street 3 times and was bringing the bike I bought the day before it to the dmv 1.2 miles from house light traffic area so I drove it so they could do there vin check. and end up behind cop on the way back and I get cut off for the first time white toyota truck pulls out from right side road after cop and stops there a couple seconds right across my lane glad I practiced my brakes on the way there stopped with a small skid no harm done but proves the point pretend there all out to get you. Went out today after work and spent about 20 min on the bike in a empty parking lot practicing the stuff from class.
Glad you're still alive and unhurt.
I had a great MSF instructor who said, "Because of their superior braking, handling and accleration capabilities, motorcycles are the safest vehicles on the road... [then he'd pause for effect] ...up to the point of impact."
He also said riding in traffic is like going to a saber-fight without wearing any armor... "sure, you can move around a lot faster than all those guys wearing heavy armor, but as soon as one of those sabers grazes you, game over."
This was in '93 and I've ridden more than a quarter million miles since, but I'll never forget what that guy said.

yea the instructer had a ton of good advice has been an instructor for like 15 years. I was keeping a large following distance and figured he would pull out but not the stop in the middle of the street. I had like 3 miles on the bike and not sure about the strret but needed to get it down there and make it legal to ride. I feel about more confident now that I had the practice time with the bike.
It can be scary out there...............but it is a heck of a lot more fun than it is scary!!! Just gotta be careful and keep an eye on those morons! Ride safe and glad to see you are practicing the things you learned in the MSF!
