Gratulations on the new ride. I can think of only 3 reasons to keep the 500, but they admittedly might not apply to you:
1.) The high position of the 919's undertail exhaust is regarded by some as unsuitable for carrying passengers. By some fluke of aerodynamics, (and anyone who has heard the phrase "chaos theory" will indeed acknowledge that aerodynamics is indeed the flukiest of sciences) some passengers consider the 919 stinky, and some even consider the inhalation of carbon-monoxide "harmful." Therefore keeping the 500 will provide a non-stinky/non-lethal alternative passenger bike.
2.) The 500 makes a perfect bike for your wife/girlfriend, and while it's technically still registered in your name, she'll still brag to her girlfriends about how you bought and maintain this bike just for her (nevermind how much you actually get to ride it.)
2.5.) Having a wife/gf who is also a rider is one of the greatest blessings a man can attain in this life.
3.) The 500 makes a perfect bike for forum friends who are visiting you from out of town.
Gratulations on the new bike!

Well it's been a while since i posted...But i finally sold the 500r. Sold her about 2 weeks ago, and i have already looked a few times on ebay for a 500, LoL.
I think maybe a track bike? Who knows.

Before you think track bike for the EX500, double check your organizations classes. Good chance since you are running a twin, you will be playing with the SV650's. And that would not be a fun time.
congrats on the new ride. i hope to be adding a 929RR to the garage in a few months (trying to persuade the wife isnt as easy as i would have hoped.) ride safe, and keep the 500, cause they just to damn fun!!
