Good price for used Ninja 500r on craigslist
Hi, new poster here. I've been reading the forums over the last few weeks while skimming craigslist and other websites to find a good deal on a 250 or 500. Found the following ad posted on craigslist:
"I have a 2005 Kawasaki Ninja ex500r with 10k miles for sale. This bike runs great, looks great, and gets great gas mileage at 55-60mpg, and CHEAP insurance. It has brand new front and rear tires, title is clean, clear and in hand. there are a few very minor cosmetic flaws that can be seen in the pics. I am asking $2600obo its priced to sell fast so please call to set up a time to check it out"
He had it listed a day or so before for $2900.
Mileage-wise, it seems from doing a search online that while some say that you should get rid of a 500 at 20k miles, others say it is good for multiple times that amount with proper maintenance.
Any help/thoughts would be great, thanks!
Thank you for the response.
--This is one of the pictures he included which shows the cosmetic damage at the bottom of the bike:

Sounds like a good deal to me. I just bought a 2001 for the same price, though its only got 4k miles. Ur def not gonna lose a whole lot if u do decide to sell it anyway.
Dont get a 250 if u dont get this one.

No-one's ever suggested to me that you should get rid of a 500 after 20K. I take care of mine and have put just about10K on it since I bought it with 2,500 miles on it with some cosmetic damage that came with it. I'd like a bigger engine now, but this isa good bike.
Thanks for the quick replies.
I emailed the seller with a few questions and am planning on going out to look at it this weekend if it's still available.
Anything in particular I should look for when I get there other than the cosmetic related issues?

i guess just make sure it runs ok and that all the turn/brake/dash lights work. If u can, take it for a ride. If not it might be smart to get a friend to ride it for u, just to make sure its ok. Ask the guy if he had changed the oil regularly n such. If he did, then at 10k miles it really shouldn't have n e problems other than those scratches.
