Gear Indicator
I like to install a gear indicator on my EX500
Acumen offers a gear indicator for bikes with cable speedometers. Is there anyone that got one of these installed on their EX500? http://www.riderstation.com/catalog/...d4b7d039d0d718 |
RE: Gear Indicator
no but I need one in a bad way, everytime I ride my bike it lets me know there's NOT a 7th gear.

RE: Gear Indicator
HAHAHA, I can count to 6! And, know what gear at what rpm!
I am not a fan on Acumen. Slow acting and dim or hard to see at times. There is a guy making GI's for the 10r's right now that I have seen in operation that works great. So I do not know if is compatible for your ride. |
RE: Gear Indicator
You need a special adaptor for a bike with a cable speedo meter like the 500.
The 10R has an electronic speedo and is a breeze to install. The ones with a cable speedo need to install little magnets on the allen bolts that old the front disc brake. It helps a pickup tool to determine your speed. Datatool makes a gear indicator too: http://www.kneedraggers.com/details/...56-DIGI-2.html |
RE: Gear Indicator
Sorry can't help ya........I don't have that but it looks interesting.
But in all honesty, if I had something like that on my bike....I think it would take something away from the ride....imo. I love how you have to remember so many things and be so aware of your surroundings and whats going on......crap I wanna go for a ride....its too cold [&:] |
RE: Gear Indicator
Here's a fun toy, which gives you gear position and more.....

RE: Gear Indicator

Just plug the old cable area? |
RE: Gear Indicator
I'm with Galen.
Who cares what gear you're in when you're in mid-corner--just one more guage to lure your eyes from looking through the corner. If you're not accelerating quickly enough, downshift; if it's screaming, upshift. Thankfully, technology still isn't enough to conquer instincts and skill outright. |
RE: Gear Indicator
having one would be nice, b/c i forget if i'm in 4th, or maybe was it 5th. but like everyoneelse, if its now going fast enough, downshift until it is
