2007 Ninja 500
I need to figure out what to do for tires on a 07 ninja 500. It runs a rather thin rear, wanted to see if anyone had ever put a 150 on the rear.
Thanks in advance for the input. |
moved it.

Here's a thread in another forum about this.
I'm of the opinion that the stock 130 works best. There is no handling or traction benefit, so the only reason left is having gym-shower anxiety about how your bike looks at Dairy Queen on bike night. Peace! -CCinC |
Well the bike is for a woman who does track days at Streets of Willows, so she wants to do a Soft Compound on it, which is proving to be a difficult find.
Any suggestions on a 130 tire that would work well? |
Your best bet would be to look through that forum in the link I provided before.
There are a bunch of 500 track guys who have done thousands and thousands of laps, and experimented with different swingarms, and who probably know the best tires for this kind of thing. The 500 really isn't much of a track-day bike, even for a tight one like Streets. Not enough cornering clearance, tire availability not so good, non-adjustable suspension... Check out the previous forum and search using the terms: "track tires", "160", etc. Peace and good luck. -CCinC |

Actually, we don't have a Dairy Queen in my town.
The closest we have to the prison-exercise-yard environment where sport bikers can engage in macho posturing and look at each others' back tires is Mother's Kitchen atop Palomar Mountain: http://www.calamarichris.com/junk/051106-chrangpmar.jpg (I suck at macho posturing.) |
