Storing w/out cylinder head

So I was recently gifted an '07 250, the owner said he was having trouble with the cylinder head about a year ago so he removed it and it's been sitting ever since, so now I'm just wondering if it's worth making the trip to pick it up since it's in south Louisiana about 30 minutes from the coast, so pretty high humidity. Besides being covered and under a roof I don't think much was done to preserve it sitting outside, any thoughts?

Welcome, jammin'. I'll jump in... I guess if it's FREE, probably at least worth a look. If all else fails, you can sell off the parts. Having said that, my "antennae" went up on the "trouble with the cylinder head" comment. Uh....exactly what KIND of trouble? A year is not TOO long for something to sit, I suppose. Just lube the heck out of the piston after you clean-off the leaves and crud, before you (HAND CRANK) to loosen things up. Of course, do all the usual things; change the oil, clean carb, fresh gas, lube, lube, lube. May be a diamond in the rough. I'd go for it.
Let us know what you find. Welcome again. ;)

a 30 minute drive for a give. Sounds like a good deal for sure.
