Recall on 2008 250R

Any of you guys get one? I got it for the hose bracket and air cleaner case. It clearly states on the recall NOT to ride the bike until it has been fixed, but my dealer is charging me a $50 pickup fee. Can I call Kawasaki and get a refund check or something, especially considering that it is their fault?!

It would be up to Kawasaki whether or not to refund you a pickup fee. (And I highly doubt they would.) They'll say it's the owner's responsibility to get the bike to the dealer for service. If it were me, I'd probably just ride it to the dealer anyway unless the dealership is really far from you.

yeah, dealer is like 20 min away from me and im not very comfortable in traffic yet. that's a pretty retarded stance for kawasaki to take (if they do deny me the refund) because it's THEIR fault and it says NOT to ride it until it's fixed. i don't have a pickup truck, so they better pay haha.

it's something about the brake's air hose...thing is, the dealer said i could ride it in, BUT if something did happen, im sure kawi would be glad to yank my warranty and such

I got the recall notices about the front brake line and the obstructed air box vent hose. I've done some research and have found out that if your 250R had the obstruction in the airbox....you wouldn't have ridden more that 5 miles before the pressure built up in the crankcase and caused the head gasket to blow out leading to oil leakage on the header pipes and the smoking and loss of power that followed. I've got about 175 miles on mine with no problems, but I plan on riding to the dealership tomorrow to have them look at the bracket that holds the brake line and make sure it's right...even though it looks right to me. I'll keep you posted on what I find out about the problems. These issues are also subject of discussion on the Ninja 250.org forums.

No, it's the brake line that contains the hydraulic brake fluid...the slippery stuff you don't want leaking from the front brake leading to your rear tire while riding...ouch. I suspect it takes a lot of rub on the front fork to be an issue, but I'm having mine checked anyway by the dealer (to get them on record), but I don't suspect any problems with my '08 250R.

yep, i got mine too. all owners of this machine should have gotten the letter. the funny part is the dealership doesn't know anything about it. i'll bring mine in tomorrow to have them repair the defect.
