hello all new rider here and i have a question im about 6' 250pounds and im thinking about getting the 250r to start on will it be enough for me to get on the freeway and such ? or since im chubby will i need its big brother ? Thanks

there are a couple people in your size range that ride 250's - you should be fine.

 

It will be perfectly fine. It will still do over 100mph with a 250lb rider.

 

check out Ninja250.com faq and find everything you need. Beware of joining the forum though, they love flaming anyone for no particular reason it seems

 

hey i ride a 250 and i am 250lbs also 6'1" so i cant tell you that the bike will be fine, you can still hit and break 100mph not by much but it is enough it is a fun city ride, on long trips your *** will be sore but i guess that is the deal with most sport bikes, good luck in your decision.

I do sometimes want more power, so when i graduate i will probably purchase a Z1000, but i can tell i am not getting rid of the 250r
I ride about a 1000 miles a month and i do it for about $80 in gas.

I read this and had to respond under my wifes profile. I am an experienced rider and Im 6ft 220 lbs.I have ridden my wifes 2008 250 in town and on the freeway. In town you will be fine but on the freeway it doesnt have the power to be able to accelerate out of a bad situation (found that out when an old lady on a cell phone swerved and almost hit me). I felt like i had to rev the sh*t out of it just to keep up with traffic. I wouldnt recomend a zx6 to a beginer what about the 650r? This is just my opinion take it or leave it I just wanted to add my 2 cents and try to help out.
