Default No Start

So, bike ran fine Friday, went for a nice long ride with my posse and then had mother's day stuff on Sat and SUn, so no riding. This morning I took it out of the garage, rolled it out in the lot, and hit the button. Nothing but starter motor. She was empty... duh. Got picked up for work.
So I went and got some gas for it this afternoon, pour it in oh so delicately. Still nothing. Now I cranked it so many times the battery is dead. Waiting on my girl to come home with the car and battery cables. What ya think? the plugs are new, the gas is good, the fuel filter works (I know this by the gas all over my hands). I need this thing right now as my commuter too....

i've had that problem before, too, i've learned that this bike can be very touchy to weather, too

is your idle set fairly high? that could cause the choke to not work since it will ahve trouble creating a vacuum

This morining I turned the bike on and let it idle/warm up a little and i never turned the fuel on. duh
I had to Put the choke on full before it would start back up. I have no clue why but that's the only way it started.

4K is not an idle, it should be around 1300. If you cant keep it running at 1300-1500 you need to find out why. It can be tight valves which can burn and overheat your bike, or as simple as dirty carbs or idle mixture needing to be adjusted.

did you get your nonstart issue resolved? That age of bike you really need to keep an eye on the petcock, when it fails it will empty your gas into your engine oil via the carbs.
Leaving your oil overfull dilluted with gas.

Its a vacuum system no gas should flow unless its set to prime or you apply a vaccum to the petcock.

well, its running. battery was really low. The petcock works, made sure of that with getting wet from the damn thing. I know that once that goes, I need to get a new aftermarket petcock. Kaw doesnt manufac the diaphram anymore. I need to take the whole airbox out for the carb, so I guess It will take me a bit. Shes running allright, and the oil level is ok looking thru the glass.
shes an oldie, but I want to keep her together as much as possible.
