It won't make too much of a difference if you're only riding in the city. How hard you get on the gas will make a bigger difference. But on the highway, I'm sureyouwould get better mpg on the 250.

I agree with Mark. On the highway with the lower rpm's at the same speed your mpg should improve some. I'm getting a 15T sprocket just to quite her screaming a bit during our hours-long sessions!

plz.. post some results when you do, I have been considering the same thing for my week end trips but I always back down because I do a fair amount of cityas well and don’t want to lose the low end.

You gear it too tall, other components like the clutch will suffer. Plus, you are possibly endangering yourself because you cannot get the bike to leave at a stop sign lets say.

I weigh 240lbs and am geared 15/42. I like it and have no problems at stop signs.

I have no idea about the long term strain on the clutch but I dont think it is anything to worry about. Mike has 27,000 with no problems.

what wou;d the best gear ratio to go with

RE: ninja 250 sprocket

You can figure 5mph more and 500rpm less if you go to the 15 frount sprocket. its the cheapest one and easest to do, plus it makes your chains last longer. If you go 42 in the rear, its another 5mph increase plus another 500 rpm's less. So it is almost like adding 7th gear.

Yes there is a small power loss in low end but I am not a dragster, for that I will use the ZX14.
