Hey guys i was just wondering when my tread runs out if the 250 is safe to move up to a size 140 in the back and front? I seen some people with 150 size and they say it rubs the chain guard and the back end slides more. I was just wondering if the 140 size is a good tire or should i stick with the stock one?

Depends on if you want to go slower and handle worse so you can have a fat tire look.

The wider tire is heavier, taking more power to spiin. Yes even a 140 will have an effect, maybe a few mph off the top speed and slightly slower acceleration. The 250 doesn't need any more than a 130, that's why it's there.

Then there is the handling issue - a wider tire mounted on the same width rim will pinch up on the profile, which will make a narrower contact patch at least when vertical, if not in all conditions. The heavier wider tire will make the steering slightly harder. A friend found going from a 180 to a 200 on his R1 made quite a difference. I will say it is usually less noticable than going to a wider front tire.

All in all, you should just save the extra money and buy a 130 again unless there is some good reason not to do so... like you can't find one. If you do use a 140 make sure it is correct for your rear rim width. You could do some research and see if that is what riders are doing when racing the 250. Whatever they're using is the smartest direction to go. They're out to win races, not have fat looking tires. So if they're going to a 140 it shouldn't be a problem.

I have not been able to play with my 2fiddy yet. I was thinking about going with the 140 rear as a max number but as mentioned, I need to consider who is going to be riding it and what the ride time is all about. Just don't place a 150 on such a small and corner carving ride.

Yeah I have been reading on other forums and such since i posted and a lot of people have mass amounts of problems when getting a fatter tire on the back so im more than likely going to stick with the stock tire for now. Thanks for your guy's help!
