Hi everyone, my name is Skeets and im hoping to join the Kawasaki community. I am in the process of getting my license, but its a pain as I am 16y/o. I am very interested in the 250 because I am 110lbs. (haha) and I was told it was illegal for me to own a bigger engine size, because of my weight. Can anyone clarify this for me? Anyhow, anyone know a easy way in Maryland to get your MotorCycle license when your under 18?

Another quick question:
It states that you can get your Class 2 learners permit if you have a license of another type. Does this count provisional? (Im not sure if you guys are experts on licensing but theres no harm in asking).

And..(lol).. Is a 250 good for me im 5"9 110lbs. and don't want to kill myself(well not intentinally<Spelled wrong) Or si there another bike that wouls suit me better? I <3 your oppinion. Come on flame me

Thanks,
The Noob Skeets(and yes thats my real name 0_o

First off, getting your license shouldn't be too hard. I've never heard of there being a cc cap on people under a certain weight. That being said, for your age and inexperience, a 250R is a great choice for you. I know gas up there is really expensive, and for mpg, you couldn't pick a better bike. It's really an all around good learner bike. You'll have a few years before you outgrow it. It's docile enough to be forgiving, but powerful enough to keep you entertained. It's a great way to get around. The best way to get your license is to get your permit, then take the MSF course. The MSF card you get should allow you to get your license without taking the road test. Make sure you gear up. Best of luck to you, and welcome to KF.

I have not heard of a weight limit for any ride or class so far.

Stateside, if you do your riding course, the size of the ride will get you that classification. ie 490cc? or less on the ride test allows you to operate anything under 500cc. If you pass the riding test on lets say an ex500, than you are licensed to ride anything.

Welcome to KF! I've never heard of a size limit except in European Countries. You have to start out at a certain cc over there...and move your way up.

I haven't heard about any size limitations except in the military in certain locations...CC's to years of experience...the 250 is not only a good starter bike, but a good bike period. I got my motorcycle license when I was 17 (Maine) only because I had my drivers license already. You will just have to go to your DMV and have them answer your questions... ...Don't forget to gear up and Welcome to the Forums!!!

So I planned a little today, but got hit hard when they said they didn't do the Motorcycle Safety Courses in October. So I have to wait until the summer(May). Really sucks
