New to forum and riding
I bought my first bike the past weekend. It is a 94 Ninja 250. I have little to none riding experience, but I'm very excited to be getting started. I came across the bike online and only paid $275.00. The real kicker is that it RUNS. I'm still shocked I was able to get one so cheap.[sm=icon_rock.gif]

It does have some fairing damage and I think it has a fuel flow problem. It only runs with the choke open, after five or so minutes then it will run properly. Is this normal operation? How long should it have to warm up before the choke is backed off? I plan on cleaning out the gas tank, and carbs to see if it improves the warm up time. I look forward to reading the posts on this forum and since I want to do my own maintence I will be asking questions to all the experienced people on here.

Welcome to KF. Sounds like you got a steal. Make sure you take the MSF course when it's available, it'll save your life.
I have a 500...I pretty much turn it on with the choke on, then turn the choke off and let it warm up for about a minute or two (mine is a 05 as well) Have you changed the fluids an what not already? You may also want ot check the fuel mixture setting. I'm no mechanic so I really don't know what else you can check.

Are you sure you didn't leave out a zero somewhere in that price!
I think you got the deal of the century on that purchase. You may just need to clean out the jets on the carbs to make it run better. OR, check for any air leaks. If it is cold wear you live, that bike will take a couple minutes to run on it's own without the choke.
Ride safe, and welcome to the forums!

+1 in maybe forgetting a "0" in the price, either way, congrats on the ride.
Sounds like you have been doing some reading on the forums already.

Welcome to the forums. You're gonna love that 250. Just enough power to get you around but not to get you in trouble. I take mine out on the interstate and whoever says this bike does not have what it takes to catch up is blowing smoke. I keep up with and pass traffic easily. It's all in the shifting. The bike loves to be in those high rpm's. It sounds like a drag racer taking off but don't worry, the bike is made to roar. You're gonna love the bike and the forums.
