how to check oil?
 

my bike shows a full window of oil "on the center stand" but when i use the kickstand it looks empty ...how do i check it? by the way its a stock 99 250 ninja

Assuming that you are on a level surface, the center stand will give you an accurate reading, slanted over on the side stand will not.

check it on the center stand, or hold it upright.

Is it supposed to be FILLED up completely or halfway...i've been told both. One of my buddies got his serviced "professionally" and it filled the glass viewer...i've been runnin mine half! :-|

carsondagley there should be two marks on the sight glass fill it up to the higher mark on the sight glass. that way you know it's full of oil.

And +1 on checking you oil level on the center stand
