Gas Mileage
What is an appropriate gas mileage range for the 250??
My '04 got 50mpg last fill up.... (though i may not have filled it up to the rim? (i dont remember)
seems low to me..... could something be wrong?
Could i be warming it up too much? what revs should it be at to warm up? i usually have it around 4-5

A long warm up does kill gas mileage. During the winter, my 250 only got 51-54 MPG, because I'd need to let it warm up for a couple of minutes before I rode off. I let it fast idle at around 2,500-3000 RPM's. You don't want it revving too high at first because oil doesn't flow as good when it's cold.
This time of year, if it's 60 or above, I wouldn't let it idle for more than 30 seconds.

That might explain it.. like i said i was doing 4-5k and doing it much longer than 30 seconds. i coulda sworn i read somewhere that you were supposed to warm it up for like 5 minutes......

If it was 20 degrees out, 5 minutes might be ok to let it idle to warm up. But I'm not sure where you live, but it's not 20 where I am, and I'm in Maine! I let my bike idle for about 45 seconds in the morning when it's in the 60's, and that's about the time it takes me to back my bike out of the garage and close the door. But once I start riding, it's ready to go, and I shut the choke off after maybe a 1/4 mile.
