Default drippng liquid...

Hello everyone. I bought my 08 Ninja 250 in April and have about 1200mi. on her thus far. I have already had the first service done at the dealer several weeks ago. Along the way several times I most likely overfilled the gas by a little then drove it home 6 miles, parking it in my garage. Several times I have noticed a slight amount of liquid on the cement in the garage, usually only a 3 inch puddle and just figured it to be water from rain or gas... Today after filling it, which I did while sitting on the bike in full upright position, drove it home and parked it. An hour later I came back outside only to find a 3' puddle dripping from the tube under the bike. Upon putting my finger into it, I discovered it to smell like gas, but thick like oil.
I checked the motor oil, brake fluid and anti freeze, nothing seems to be missing. I called the dealer and the guy said it sounded like maybe the float was stuck in the carbs. I took the bike over there and told the manager the story again and he took a look but nothing dripping now to show... He said it was just gas comming out the overflow and to just keep a check on it. Does this sound rather strange you you all? Not what the manager said, but that the gas is very oily? Yes it only does it after filling up.

Sorry, I haven't a clue. I do not know of any liquid that sounds like what you see. Does the puddle dry up after a while?

Aren't there 3 hoses that drain around the same place? Gas tank overflow, carb overflow, and battery overflow are once that I can remember that all have hoses routed to the bottom of my bike. The gas smell seems self-explanatory, but I can't imagine why it's 'oil-like'.

Are you absolutely sure it's not your drain plug or filter housing leaking and it just looks like it's coming from the hose?

what makes you think it was oil like? slippery? thick? coloration?

is your bike a california model? those are more prone to getting gas overflow into the vapor canister and leaking down later.

could it be that if u have a gas leak it's leaking down the bike and pickin up some sediment on the way? when i had the fuel leak mine did and felt oily and smelt funny. first thing you need to do i check any and all lines....oil, vaccuum, fuel, coolant, etc just to make sure they are all good. start at the obvious and look from there.

That's the funny thing. It wasn't in the form of like 2 differant substances at all, it was perfectly mixed together as one consistancy. The texture of honey, or real thick mineral oil, with the smell of watered down but strong gas... But when I seen it dripping it was comming from one tube only. I'll admit I did overfill the gas.
Only solution is to stop filling the gas so full. Dang thing is, is that the gas hand will never reach full now. I hate it always reading 15/16 full right after a fill up.[>:] The other person is right also, maybe there was something else in the line at the time that hadn't flowed out and the gas brought it flowing down after deluting it... Just going to keep a check on all my fluids and keep riding. The dealer didn't really want to touch it... So much for my "Prefered Care", guess I am a PEON like everyone else...

there should also be a tube from the air intake housing to drain off any oil etc that gets sucks up into there.
you really should trace the tube and see which one it is and where it is coming from.
