Bent shift fork?
Sometimes it's getting really difficult to shift up and down, very clunky, but other times it'll be very smooth. My linkage is a little loose but not any looser than it was a while ago when it shifted fine. I tend to downshift quite hard at times but I would think if it was my shift fork then it would be more of a consistent clunkiness and not on and off. Any help?

How is your chain/sprocket condition?

RE: Bent shift fork?
It's worn but just barely within spec to keep riding until I order new ones this week.
I discovered the problem though, for some reason the lock ring thing for the clutch lever adjustment keeps unscrewing itself, so when I would shift it would be enough that it wouldn't fully disengage the clutch in time for me to shift up or down. I don't know why it does that, did it twice yesterday and moved about a half inch both times. Why is it doing this? Am I pulling too hard on the lever? |

RE: Bent shift fork?
ah, i figured out what it was the hard way, earlier tonight my clutch cable snapped when I was riding[:@]
I felt a small pop the other day when I was riding but I thought it was just the locknut unscrewed and the cable jumped a little. but i guess it snapped a little and then it went out tonight. guess that's god's way of saying "order new parts for your bike!" |
RE: Bent shift fork?
