Default 09 ninja 250r shifting gears

I purchased a brand new 09 Ninja 250 this past Feb. and just reached 2300 miles. When I purchased the bike the gear shifting was really stiff. The dealership said they will be that way until they break in. The other day I noticed the shifting felt smoother and took alot less pressure from my foot to shift. I no longer have to apply much pressure with my foot. Is this normal and does it mean its breaking in. Don't get me wrong it shifts fine and stays in gear. It just doesnt take the pressure with my foot it use to.

congrats. The clutch cable is now not as stiff, the pivots are getting freed up, the plates have good oil. Again, congrats on a working ride.

I have just broke a thousand miles on my Ninja 250r and I have felt the difference in shifting after the "break-in" too.

Thanks, it feels much better to be able to just tap the shifter.

Congrats! I think the concept is the same as cars. Dealers ask their customers to go easy on the cars for the first 5K miles. This allows the engine, trans, and major components get in good rhythm. New transmissions definitely need a break in period, but I'd be surpised if all of a sudden one day the shifting drastically changed. Glad to hear it's working well for you! Enjoy!

Yep... totally normal! Keep good oil in it and give it some more miles and will be even smoother!

Thumbs up Gear shifting...

hi, I have a concern. i bought the 250 last Saturday and is only 111 miles and every time i shift a gear it produces a loud sound like if i was forcing the gears or something, i pull the clutch completely and there is no difference... is it normal? is it going to change in the future after the break-in?
thanks a lot and sorry for my english.
