The best advice available says that this is illegal. Outside the States it definitely is.

That apart it means ripping the headlights apart so that it looks really ugly and you don't get much improvement anyway. Stock lights with uprated Phillips Xtreme Vision bulbs are more than good enough for much faster bikes than the 250. Because of the start-up delay with HID, don't convert high beam and make sure that low beam stays on when high beam's selected. I think the 08/09 bikes come like that.

i haven't seen how good the halogen projectors are on the bike but putting s2000 projectors on my car make a world of difference.

i know its illegal to put HID bulbs into the halogen housing..
but i'm talking about adding projectors with HID bulbs.

it wont look ugly if done right.
because of the way the bikes housing is make.
it would be best to go with a bi-xenon. (low and high in one)
the same bulb is used for both. meaning the high beam is already on. you just need to engage it so the shield moves.

i was just wondering if anyone had done it and what they thought about it on a bike..

The reason manufacturers don't fit bi-xenon as OEM is that the beam pattern is lousy.

The move from dual to single filament bulbs was driven by the fact that a single filament bulb in a reflector designed for that bulb, with non of the compromise inherent in trying to make it do both jobs gives better range, spread and control of the beam. Bi-xenon, although brighter than halogen, is in every other way turning the clock back.

I find the Phillips lamps more than good enough for worst case unlit roads in heavy rain on a 650, and even the stock bulbs are perfectly OK.

I figure that if none of the manufacturers fit HID on top of the range SS bikes there's probably a good reason.
