No Clutch!
 

I have a 2003 Vulcan Nomad 1500. While riding the bike for 30 mins or until the oil is hot I lose my clutch. Cant downshift or anything. The clutch lever goes all the way back with no tension. After letting the bike cool of for a while the lever has tension and I can contiue riding.

What causes this problem? Thx!

First thing I would do would be to pull the clutch cover and inspect the plates and springs. See what the clutch plates look like (the ones with the fiber on them.) If they're worn down to nothing and/or springs are mush, probably time for a fresh set. Post up some pics. Glad to offer some suggestions.
Is that a hydraulic or cable clutch? If it's hydraulic, that might change my answer.

my 99 VN1500 manual lists hydraulic m/c, so I cannot comment on the 03 1500 without going through the fiches.

if yours has the same m/c, then flush the system and bleed all air. Could be a bad gasket simple fix on the M/C?

Guys, thank you very much guys for your suggestions. I'm gonna look into it this weekend. A friend of mine thinks its the release assembly clutch.

Always check the easy stuff first, open the clutch reservior to check the level, dont just look at the outside. Is there any change in the feedback on the clutch when it goes out? easier? harder? no change? If the hydraulic system is all good, you may aave to crack it open, in that case I bow to Jeff and Drag

Thanks Prom......After I lose the clutch I stop the bike and wait for it to cool. After about 30mins of cooling down the clutch is back to normal tension on the lever. But once hot again there's no tension on the lever, goes all the way down to the hand grip.

If your clutch lever loses tension I would definately flush and bleed the system and see how it works after that, let us know how it goes.

I have the same problem with a 2006 Nomad that I just bought. The initially thought it was the clutch and replaced all the clutch plates, however the same thing is still occurring. After about 30 mins. I lose clutch, no tension, and can't shift without pumping the clutch about 10-15 times just to shift and get it stopped.
If you were able to diagnose and fix the issue I'd love to know what you found.
At least for now the dealership is working with me, but not sure how long that will last. If I can point them in the right direction that would be awesome so I don't get caught paying for the repairs or with a bike I can't ride.

Flush the system. Inspect hoses and all seal points, including reservoir. Agree with Prom^.
