i got a surprise for Christmas (2000 Vulcan 500). i have never ridden so i know nothing. I need a tire. I want the best. I hear i can get a tubeless? any pros and cons and any specific make/model.
i'm the Philly area if that matters

hmm, first bike and you still want the best? (most pre 90 series of street bikes use tubeless)

I suggest reading up some more.

 

You can't have the best because as yet you don't know how you're going to use the bike and that defines the type of tyre that you want. After that it's down to personal taste, and until you got a few miles under your belt you don't have any. Get a tyre that matches the other tyre and do an MSF course. Your tyres are almost certainly tubeless.
