New owner with big problem
I just purchased a 92 ZX600R. it has ZX4D in the vin if that matters any. it has 51100 miles on it. i bought it for 1200 bucks with 51030. i have ridin dirtbikes before so i kinda know how to ride. i know a street bike is totally differat though but thats beside the point. heres my issue. when i go to shift from nuetral to 1st i hear a loud clank and the motor dies. this has just started happening today. any ideas? i know it has high miles but i know the guy that has owned it since new and i know how he rode it and took care of it. thanks yall. also what forum do i post in?

RE: New owner with big problem
Post it in the tech section or general, can you pull the clutch in a start it while it's in gear? If not, you just need to have the clutch checked out, but either way, a loud clank is never good.

hi welcome, try replacing the clutch cabel and adjusting it. i think that there would be your problem, unless something in the tranny is messed up, like a bent fork. try the cabel first.

RE: New owner with big problem
actually we fixed it tonite. what happened was on the kick stand there is a kill switch so that if the kick stand is down the switch will kill it when it is put in gear. well it was really dirty and was stuck in. we cleaned it off and its fine now. but its still pretty loud when i shift. im takin all the plastics off this week to have em painted so im gonna have the carbs cleaned syncronized and re jetted. im also gonna have the tranny looked at to see what all is wrong with it. but ya know the bike has high miles and only cost 1200 bucks. i cant complain.
