Is that an oil pressure gauge on the side of the motor?

I believe it's an oil temp gauge. These bikes lived and died by oil temperature. Especially if you hot rodded them.

Yup oil pressure, not temp.....none of my street bikes or drag bikes ever go too hot, oil coolers worked wonders back in the day.

I ran a '78 Z1R 1300 on the street, stuck in downtown traffic on 100 degree days with the only thing getting hot, me....I had to wear a skid lid on Base but none required at the time off Base (later changed as the DOD didn't like it's pawns hurt or killed off duty) so it would find the Rt. Rearview mirror as I passed the Gate House home......

I'm looking for an 2" black gauge for this "new" find, can't seem to find one.....at least one that would be worthy.......liquid filled at that, 0-15psi.

yeah the pipe was a Kerker on the ole drag bike, I don't think they had any names for them back then other than the brand, later I tried a Vance & Hines, went back to the Kerker just do to the spring mounts and no safety wire.....

Very sweet GS BTW....I passed alot of those! I remember a kid with a new 84 GS750E coming real close one day, I could see him out the corner of my eye through 4th, then no more.
