new guy needs help!!

Hey guys i just got a 86 kawasaki zx600. I have cleaned all the carbs and everything. Right now whenever i start it up( doesnt start very easily) And i try to give it throttle, it seems like it wants to cut out. Whenever i give it throttle i hear like a air sucking noise. Do you think its a vaccuum leak? Or is there air going in somewhere?

Really need help, ive been working on this for 3 days now. thanks.

Sounds like your on the right track. rubber deteriorates over time, and who knows whats been going on with that ride before you got it, check your vacuum lines and carb boots for cracks and leaks, also check the air filter, and fuel filter, either one could slow you down. Let us know what you find, good luck on the sell.

Is that gas tank vented? If the venting is restricted, it can snuff your fuel delivery to the point of stalling your engine.

hey guys. It was having vacuum leaks all around the hosing from the carbs. Im just waiting on the gaskets to come in for the leaking carbs right now.

Quick qestion. This bike didnt come with an air filter??? Should i find the stock filter for it, or get 4 different small ones. How IMPORTANT is it really??

Welcome to the forums. As far as the air filter goes, its just as important as an oil filter. :)

I think that an oem equivalent or better filter in the box is best for most of the sportbikes.

I have used K&N air filters with oil with good results. Not cheap, but effective.
