My new ride
hey all. just bought my first bike.
a 2009 ninja 650r what kind of accesories do you guys reccomend? any suggestions will be helpful. tips on getting the best gas mileage. etc i am very new to motorcycling. but i love it already ive heard of this thing called a chatterbox? and lo jack. and stuff like that.... |
Welcometo KF!
Unfortunately almost every mod out there is made to go faster, which means it will use more gas. There are some mods that will make it look cooler, of course that is all about taste. The most common is a fender eliminator which can be done with a kit or a hacksaw, and may have already been done. Chatterbox is a device installed in your helmet so you can talk to other riders in your group, like a CB for truckers. Never tried it, I like my Ipod. Lo jack is the same on a bike as it is on a car, helps you find it if its been stolen, never a bad idea if you can afford it, bikes can easily disappear. Have fun, and feel free to post up any questions you have, and get some pics of your ride up when you can :D |
Congrats on the ride and welcome to KF. Gear up and enjoy

First of all welcome to the forums, as far as accessories go, I would suggest that before you get distracted talking to other riders using this "chatterbox" you might want to get into the MSF class and then gain experience riding without any unnecessary distractions, which would include I-Pods or passengers. As far as any other mods on the bike, there are a bunch of great guys here that can steer you in the right direction. Again welcome and keep us up to date on how everything goes. ;)

Welcome Weasel. Deej is right on target; get used to your bike before you start modding. There are plenty of distractions on the road. Get used to the sound of your bike; shift points, gear clicks, brakes, timing chain, etc. Become "one" with it, so you know WHY you want to modify it. Think of your bike as a metaphor for "life." Resist the temptation to crap it up with impulsive and cheap junk.
Glad to have you aboard. Gear up; stay safe. |
yes i have taken the MSF it taught me a lot.
and thank you for the tips and advice! really appreciate it. |
