i have found a 1997 kdx200 for sale starts up great the only problem is that it will only move in 5th gear does any one know what would the cause and what kind of money to fix and the guy was asking 500 for the bike i said maybe $200 $250 max would that be a good price need help thanks all

 

Welcome Jay, my guess would be that the shift arm inside the case has lost its return spring. You are going to have to take the side cover off and see what is wrong.
