Hey everyone. No bike yet but I should be getting one soon. I'm looking at a Ninja 500r for my first bike. What do you guys think of those? I want something fairly quick so I don't get bored of it but don't want to spend a lot of money on my first bike. Are there any major problems you guys are having or things you just don't like about them? I'll most likely be buying an '05.

Welcome! I think you'd be happy with the 500, I bought a 94 back in December, I haven't driven it yet (hopefully next week as long as the good weather holds and I get my license!) When I was trying to decide what to buy for a bike, I considered the 250 but a lot of people seemed to outgrow them and get bored with them quickly. Then I looked into the Suzuki GS500 and the Kawasaki 500. After comparing them, I decided that the Kawi was the better of the two (plus I liked the look of the Kawi better ). I've heard a lot of experienced riders say that they were impressed with the power and what not. I haven't heard of any problems and the guy I bought mine from, never had any unusual problems, they seem like a good solid bike. I think you would enjoy it.

Welcome.... I think you would be happy with the 500. I have heard many good things of it. I have no personal experience with it, I have the 04' 636. Which I love.

Again, welcome to the board and have fun!

I'd have to agree with 636 Chic...you will probably be happy with a 500 for now. Just to start out on and get used to everything, and then a few years down the road move up. I love my bike too, I know I won't be trading mine for while.
