Got my first bike
Hello everyone I just picked up my first bike yesterday from the dealer. I had to ride it about 25 minutes to my house on a 2 lane road that has a speed limit of 55 but everyone does 70-75 and truckers use it as a cut thru. I must admit I was very scared after that ride between the trucks and the wind I could barely stay in my lane. I almost put the bike away for the day at 11am but I sucked it up and went back out and ended up putting 120 miles on the bike before parking it for the night. I guess I got over my fear.
What do you guys recommened for mods on a 08 650R in red? I come for a VW world where everyone mods their rides like crazy but being new to the bike thing I'm not sure what is out there and what I should do.
Thanks
Cliff

RE: Got my first bike
Hey Cliff, welcome to the forums, I would say that the very first mod you should do has nothing to do with the bike and everything to do with you. If you can, or maybe you already did, take the MSF class, it will make the streets feel a lot safer, and giveyou the skills to manage the different situations out there and remember, have fun, and be safe.

Mods? Frame sliders haha and some nifty decals. (heard the big green K is 15hp).
But seriously... MSF course is pretty handy. You get to learn the basics, plus it drops your insurance premiums. Don't be intimidated by other people's rides. You'll get to the point where you'll know what to do to your bike in order to make your rides even more enjoyable. Get some leathers and all those other protective goodies. Nice choice on the ride man, be proud and ride safe.

Welcome to the KFamily. Congrats on the new ride. I'm gonna have to +1 what deej said. MSF course is the most important modification you can make. And definately get some frame sliders. That's gonna help when (notice I didn't say if) you lay it down. Plastics are expensive to replace.

RE: Got my first bike
Thanks to everyone for the welcomes and advice. I have put 330 miles on the bike so far and really enjoying it looks like I won't be able to take the course til Aug. so I'll have to extend my permit.
Thanks
