Got my 1st bike today!

So, I am new to the family here! I bought my very first bike today!

It's a 2007 Ninja 250-- love it.

I've never read any bad reviews about them-- they are super affordable and an excellent beginner bike!!

Anyways, I just wanted to say hey!

Hi There. I take itthat's a picture of you there too. Welcome and good luck. I started riding last September when I bought a low-mileage and slightly damaged used Ninja 500R. It's been great so far -- perfect bike to start on for me. I've ridden about 3500+ miles since then and so far I've managed to avoiddropping it. Watch out on your turns at first, especially those ones where there's sand or gravel along the shoulder of the road -- I had a couple fishtails of the rear-end of the bike breaking before I started to turn the bikewhere there was sandand/or gravelaccumulated on the shoulder as I was about to start turning across it. Otherwise no real problems. Anyway I don't want to scare you -- have fun with it, I knowI am with mine. It's a nice-looking bike you've got.

RE: Got my 1st bike today!

Thanks guys!

Yeah, I took it out for a little bit today and started to get the feel for it. It rides so nicely! :) I indulged myself a bit by getting a brand new one for m first bike, but I had been looking in the paper since November for a decent 250 and they are almost impossible to come by! Every time I'd call on the ad, they had already sold it. So, I opted to go against everything everybody has advised me-- I got a brand new one for my starter!

Ahh, all I can think about it going out tomorrow and riding some more! :-D

Congrats on the ride! You're gonna love it! I guarantee it. Like others have said, gear up just in case, and ride within your abilities.

Welcome to the family.:)

Welcome to the forums. In case nobody has said it already, please take a MSF class if you haven't already. Even old dudes learn stuff in that class that can help them to live another day. Have fun, be safe, and gear up......you know the routine.;)

RE: Got my 1st bike today!

CONTRADS...Fellow female rider!! LOVE THE BIKE....blue is a good color for you.
I'm a new rider too. Just bought my bike 2 weeks ago. It's a 97' ninja 250. I love it.I alsotook the MSF course, but I'm still learning the Art of "LEAN TO TURN". I'm getting it, but it's taking time. I've been riding the bike on the local back roads of PA. Veryhilly, and some banking, to learn the lean to turn concept.Besides the ride being envigarating, anda diffenate de-stresser there's ....NO TRAFFIC!I also took my bike out to a local park, and with all that space,I practiced slow turningfigure 8's (slow, controlled turns), and 10.20.and 30 mile emergancy stops.Ifyour going to do it,make sure youunderstand how to break 75/25 ratio. READ UP on it...people with experience have a lot of good information.
Hey, listen...good luck and welcome to KF!!
