Getting a 1999 kx125

I am thinking about purchasing a 1999 kx125 for 900. What routine maintenance will i need to do? And is there anything i need to look at when purchasing it?

Thanks

Well if I'm not mistaken that's a 2 stroke bike, and they are pretty easy to maintain, and repair. I mean for less than $50.00 you can swap out the piston and rings in like 30 minutes. Keep the mix a little heavy until you get used to the bike.

Oh yeah......welcome to the forums. :)

Klein, welcome aboard. Like Deej says^ the 125 is pretty cheap and easy to maintain. You may need to drain/refill the crankcase oil once in a while, change a fouled spark plug, change fork oil, and keep the chain clean for longer wear, but otherwise they're more reliable than your dog. Look for "bangs" into the steering stops, bent forks, leaky forks, oil seep around the head/case, and general abuse. Expect SOME reasonable wear for a roughly 10 year old bike, though.
Post some pics, and wear your gear. Stay safe.

Welcome to KF.

As mentioned above, just look at the basics on wear and tear and check out the owners log of repairs and make sure to get the service manual at the same time. Good luck

edit: Normally any jet experiences and results should also be listed in the log as well.
