Better late than never

Guess I should have posted here some time ago. Anyway, not all that much to tell. I probably started riding my older brother's Harleys back about 1944. My first bike was a 1940 something BSA single with an Indian piston that was only good for a few hundred hours before it broke, (the piston that is). Joined the Air Force in 1951. All my bikes up until I quit riding in 1955 were BSAs. Last bike was a 1954 BSA 500cc Goldstar. Had to sell it when transferred and couldn't take it with me.

20 years in the Air Force, then in business for another 20 years before finally retiring for good. I just started riding again in 2005, having purchased an almost new, (1300 miles), 1967 Triumph TR6C, (scrambler). Several bikes since then and some nice motorcycle camping trips with my son.

I found a really nice 1965 BSA 350cc single in 2006 and raced it in Vintage Moto Cross in 2007. In 2008 I decided my legs hurt too much to continue with the racing so gave that up. I ride dirt a lot with my son, (who's 60 by the way). We both have vintage bikes and find we spend a lot of time in the garage keeping them going.

So, my first dual sports were the old BSAs. My first modern dual sport was a 2008 KLR650, which I sold to downsize to a KLX250S as I needed something I could pick up when I dropped it.

Picture, (if it loads), is me on a Richmond Rambler Motorcycle Club hill climb on my 1954 Goldstar in 1955.

damn...you joined the Air Force not too long after it separated from the Army...almost at my 20 now...2 more years to go... ...things have changed so much since I came in that I look foward to it...the AF is trying to make it impossible for members to ride!!! Glad to see that you are still on two wheels!!!
