Backrest/Trunk for paralyzed Wife Help Please

I'm new to the Kawasaki and look forward to much advise.. I have a 1996 Vulcan 1500 Classic that I am trying to install a trunk with a backrest. I have looked around and found the V1700 Nomad trunk (on ebay item number 270742118149) that I really like. My wife is paralyzed, so I am trying to find a trunk and backrest (not those cheap scooter or plastic ones) that will support my wife. The Nomad trunk has the wrap around cushion backrest and I think this will work great with the help of a modified waist strap. Has anyone installed the Nomad trunk on the Classic. The trunk is $1200 + the mounting backrest. I don't want to spend that kind of money and it not work. I think my greatest challenge is going to be finding a bracket that will work with both my bike and the trunk. Any advise would be great…

Thanks

Not sure, but welcome to the forums. Glad to see you are still trying to keep the wife involved in riding. That's awesome man! ;)

Let me mention the arm rest set ups riders used on the 82-87 Gold Wings, The earlier versions used a friction bolt set up to hold them up. They would help in what you want. See if you can find a Wing or a picture of one with them on. A set could easily be made up and fitted to the fender stays of a Vulcan to help keep your wife in position on the back seat. Do a google search for GL1100 armrests.
