900 Classic LT

am new to the forum. Looking for opinions on the 900 Classic, I took one for a test ride today and was quite favorably impressed by the power. (am comparing it to my 750 Shadow) I like the fact that it has fuel injection, liquid cooled and belt drive. Generally I'm quite happy riding along between 90 - 100 kph, no great need for speed here. (salesman said it would cruise at 130 kph all day.....) Guess what I'm looking for is information on how the bike rides while riding double, we live near the Rocky Mountains and wish to do 3-5 day rides. (I weigh 200 lbs, and my wife 135) Will the 900 be laboring with this load on mountain highways?
I'm hoping to find a ride that I can stay with for many years........oh, any reports on gas mileage?

Any and all comments most appreciated, thanks so much! :)

Dirk

Welcome to KF. They look awesome. I don't think you can compare it to a VT750. The Kawi is a lot more scoot. I don't think you will have any problems with the 335 pounds, I've seen critters that a bigger than that riding by themselves.

Welcome to the forums. The 900 should be fine, but going bigger with two up would be my opinion.

I agree. The 900 should be fine, but for 2 up, I would like a little more power.

Hi Dirk

I have a friend of mine who rides a new VN900Classic and end of this month we will be going off to Sicily (from Malta) for a week's riding holiday. His is still doing the running in but maybe after the trip I will be able to get you requested info re consumption. As regards load he sometimes has his wife on the back seat and no one complains re her weight!
My '95 EN500A-B2 out accellerates the VN900 but it (900) has more torque and so needs less gear changes while climbing hilly terrain than mine.

It is a nice bike- the only thing I do not like about it is that some of the 'chrome ' parts are plastic.
