Just bought a 1994 KX250 that needs some WORK. Went to pull the drain plug and swap out the gear oil and *snap* come to find the drain hole was all JB welded around the drain plug. I've got a picture to show (and yeah looks like coolant in the oil too I know.. suspecting water pump seals) but the previous owner somehow broke a piece of the crank case around the drain plug. I have been looking on ebay to see what crankcases are going for, but I am not sure which years are compatible with a 1994.. it sounds like '94-'98 are going to be the same but I figured I would check here just to be sure. If anyone has any ideas for this kind of fix, otherwise I am thinking JB weld for now and buy a new crank case. Thanks for the help guys.
Ending up coming across a right side crankcase half on ebay for $50. If anyone runs into a similar issue that I had, that's what I would recommend doing. Bought all OEM bearings and seals off partzilla and did a mini rebuild!
