Chain Length

Hi, I have always used a 12t front sprocket with a 49t rear using a 110 link chain.

I have just fitted a 13t renthal front sprocket along with a 49t rear renthal sprocket. I have used a RK 120 link chain and broke the link to make it a 110 link chain.

However, I have fitted it but upon adjusting the chain its a good 15mm from the first adjusting line (the lines on the swing arm to correctly align the rear wheel). I have adjusted it using a ruler but does this matter that its so far away? Should I of used 111 links instead??

Thanks

Welcome to KF

Besides the gearing change, you have now altered the bikes geometry by shortening up the wheelbase. Nothing wrong with this, it is used alot to adjust your bike to meet your ride conditions. Sometimes a longer wheelbase is needed to improve stability (longer chain), while the shorter wheelbase aides in quicker turn in.
