2000 Kawasaki 125 Question
 

Hey guys. New to the forums. And new to my bike. Got it around thanksgiving and due to weather have not been able to freely ride yet. My question is this; is it common for the bike to stall out when shifted into gear off a dead stop? I mean right when shifting into first. This causes me to rev higher and control clutch disengagement in order to take off while the bike is relatively cold. After I've ridden for 10 minutes or so this is not an issue. Could this be a simple problem just because the clutch is still cold, or simply because the motor is cold?

is this your first bike all around? cus it sounds like you just let the clutch out rather than easing it to the friction point then getting on the gas and letting it out the rest of the way. no matter what bike youre riding, hot or cold, you should ease it out of first from a dead stop. not only to stop it from stalling it out but it'll save you from having to rebuild the clutch in a few years cus it's all stripped out from popping it everytime.

when cold the engine will stall more easily. using the choke to raise the idle a little untill it warms up generally fixes that.

KX Slaughter King I think you misunderstood my post. I laughed when I read your reply. I have plenty of experience RIDING and do not need advice on how to release a clutch. I'm talking about a relatively cold motor and FROM NEUTRAL, with the clutch fully engaged, shifted into first gear...THEN STALLING, with the clutch completely engaged still. While this could simply be from being cold...I figured I would ask you Kawasaki guys.

On another note this is my first 2 stroke, but not first bike.

Clutch adjustment or change to a smoother tranny oil.;)

but i had an austriallian klx250 with the same problem but it was when i shifted into third, it never stopped, but i ditched it on some loser anyway. id love to know was causing it.
