Default How to clean the fuel system on 2020 KLX300R and KLX230R

Hey everyone,
New to Kawasaki bikes, we have some new one's and while going through the owner's manuals with the bikes one of the services is to clean the fuel systems, however it states to have a dealership perform the task. The service manuals are not yet available for these bikes, I quickly tried to find a manual for and earlier year bike however no luck. I HATE having other people working on our bikes, street and now off road, and hate asking for help. So forgive me but,
1) any ideas of how the procedure is completed?
2) any links to services manuals that would cover the procedure, I would think there are other models with the fuel injections that call for fuel system to be cleaned,
3) video links?
Thanks for any help anyone could provide, looking forward to getting out on the trails again, just need to get my little girl comfortable on the KLX110L. It's been 35 years since I've been in the woods cannot wait.

Try looking for a 2018 KLX250s service manual, they are also fuel injected and engines are identical excepting bore. European, Asian and Australian KLX250's have also been fuel injected for a number of years. You may want to post this on the KLX250s forum as it is loaded to the gills with extremely knowledgeable people the world over.

Thank you for sure. Will do. By the way these bikes are sweet! 300 has plenty of power and suspension travel.

Did you ever figure out the answer? I have a 2020 KLX300R and have been wondering about the procedure. In the meantime, I just use "redline powersports fuel system cleaner" every month to keep the fuel system clean. I do the same thing with my other street motorcycle which is fuel injected as well.
I have seen a thread about the service manual being available by pdf.

I have the services manuals so i have the steps, however I have not found an DFI cleaner tool though I haven't looked in a while. I keep checking in with Motion Pro Tools. I use a fuel injector cleaner. Finally found a diagnostic system (coder checker.cleaner) for the KLX series. https://www.healtech-electronics.com/products/obd/ which I may pick up, wife's 230r had a code for the ignition coil and the erase code procedure is just stupid.

Hi @drskvch, thanks for sharing this info, super useful! I recently bought a KLX230R and I’m happy about it, but I've been struggling to find a way to read the error code! From what you're saying, it seems that it's not possible to read the error codes with a standard OBD2 + adapter connector, am I getting this right? Do you know why is it that a custom diagnostic system has to be used, like the one you shared? (thanks!)

Also, I read that it's possible to read error codes by grounding one of the terminals of the DFI connector, and counting the number of flashes in the check engine light. Any chance you could share the table from the Service Manual to interpret these flashes?

Thanks in advance!
