great bike

i love my klx 300. everyone that rides it loves it. handles great, has enough power for
most. power is very predictable. it has all the free mods plus crd headpipe ( no longer
available) dynojet 13/50 sprockets. where are the rest of the klx300 owners ?

RE: great bike

Can it handle a rider of 240 lbs?

it depends on your stile of riding. if you are an aggressive woods rider, the bike in stock form would not have enough
power. with all the mods, 13t counter, it would probably be enough for you. you could add a pumper carb and get a little
more. if you want to launch the front end out of control every time you crank the throttle, better go to a bigger bike.
this bike has smoth power from low to high rpms. never any suprises to get you in trouble.
i take mine to colorado every year and it keeps up with all the bigger bikes, but i am a lot smaller than the others too.
5-5 150 lbs old fart 56. yes the seat is a stretch but havent nedded the lowering kit ( yet ). im betting you will like the bike.

RE: great bike

Does it have much more zip than a 250S?

And where are you riding in Colorado?

RE: great bike

yes it has more zip than 250s, but the 300 has lower gearing too. i think it comes with 14/50 sprockets. the 300 has buttloads of
torque. it is an absolute blast to ride offroad.
i ride at rampart range in colorado (pike national forest) or the hans peak area in routt national forest. both areas have excelent riding,
i am sadly parting with my 300 cus i bit the bullet and bought a 250s with the happy button. i think the 300 handles a little bit better
than the 250s, but it needs to make the trip to co. for the real test.

Oh so you went with the KLX 250s huh, I gots one too. I was going to ask you what the biggest difference was in power on the KLX 300?

If I sat on a KLX 300, would I say to myself "By Gawd, Now this is POWER" or would it be more like "ya this feels a little more powerful, but its not enough to write home about"?

RE: great bike

there is a noticable difference in power between the two bikes. the 300 has more low end torque and power, but not a huge difference
like say a 400 or a 450. it has quicker responce out of corners and when riding trails with whoops you can easily launch off the tops
instead of riding through them. also the handleing is somewhat better with the 300 due to the fact that they changed the angle of the
forks. have no clue why they would do that. the 300 is a great handleing bike in the woods. just got back from co. with the 250 and
when there noticed the front end wanted to wash out in corners and loose dirt. i'm not dissapointed in that aspect, just had to allow
for that when riding. had a blast there, and kept up with all the other riders. ( ktm 300, ktm 400, ktm 380, honda 350, honda 400, etc.)
never got tired of kicking the 250, in fact, the happy button saved me several times when i killed it. very impressed with the 250.
