Excessive costs ??
I was just quoted $7842 before 6.5% sales tax for a 2023 KLX300.
That seems a little excessive so I’m wondering what dealers are charging in your area? this is for the street legal version. thanks Colin |
It is, some dealers are jacking up the price, because the supply is low. A few dealers may do the bikes at MSRP plus true fees, like the freight, setup, doc fee (to maintain records as required by states), tax, title, temp tag. Shouldn't hit anywhere near that. Problem is finding the dealer that isn't up-charging for the bike. Not knowing where you are at is a problem. No one can suggest another dealer, because they have no idea where you are. I know Mid Ohio Powersports in Mount Vernon Ohio doesn't add crazy up-charge fees. Don't know if they have any KLXs though. Supply is still lacking. When supply increases the prices will drop.

I’m in SE Idaho. One dealer quoted me $6741 OTD including 6.5% sales tax but they are all out of stock.
The other dealer , I’ve got his price down a bit but it seems like he’s playing games and I’d honestly rather wait until a reputable dealer has one in stock however long it takes. |
Paid 7k out the door in Montana a few weeks ago, that included a 4 year extended warranty, and also $400 factory rebate

Yeah, MSRP means little. It is the bottom line both before taxes and then after taxes. As you point out, taxes may be a pretty big chunk. So it is more realistic to look at the subtotal before tax. Might also be some factory money that is sometimes subtracted after the taxes and all. That was what I had with the XSR, money off the final total. Makes it so the state gets tax on the full amount while you still get the break in the end.
