97 KLX300 with a blown motor. WHere can i get a new or used engine?
 

will any other engines fit in a 97 klx300? Will a 2007 klx250 engine fit in it? where can i find parts cheap?

The older klx250r 94-96 will fit in the klx300. You will go down to 250cc though and I belive to take that motor to 300cc and above the cases will have to be enlarged to fit the 300 jug.

All years 300 motors will fit.

The klx250s motor will fit. You may have to change over some things for this engine to function properly. I know for a fact that the shift star has a different position for the neutral light. The cdi box uses DC current instead of AC like the 300(it may be the other way around) To use the starter you will need some other items that the 300 doesn't have, and that brings us to the point that the 250s doesn't have a factory kick starter. You may also need different air box boots.
