2007 300R Hard to Start

I just bought a 2007 and having a hard time starting it. Any suggestions to make it easier to start. I am at the point of selling it, taking a loss and buying something different.

Valves lash could be out of spec. Carb could be dirty, especially pilot jet, and/or float height incorrect. Replace the spark plug. Improve your kick-start technique.

Also make sure the gas in the float bowl is less than two weeks old... aka turn off the petcock, drain the float bowl of old fuel, then open the tap to get fresh from the tank.
