Seems kinda slow around here lately, so figured I'd post some eye candy.
Weather had been quite good last week after a stretch of rain. Made for some excellent soil conditions, although some of the north facing slopes were a bit greasy after the moisture had thawed in the day.
I convinced my bro-in-law to drive 4 hours one-way to join me for a day of mostly single track desert riding with some ATV trails and Jeep roads thrown in for good measure. He lives in a MUCH colder climate and it didn't take much arm twisting for an opportunity to see bare ground, let alone ride on it. Temps this day were in the low 40s, and we saw exactly one other guy in the 5-6 hours of riding. I trailered the bike to the trailhead as this was about 50 miles from home and the idea of riding that far to and fro this time of year isn't very temping. Also, I brought along a small grill and we had brats for lunch on the tailgate.
Note included in the pics here is one muddy and slick side hill where my less-than-ideal stock rubber lost grip - and down I went. Took a few minutes to get the bike back up on the trail, fighting mud and loose rocks the whole time. Decided it's time to put a real knobby up there to (hopefully) prevent this again.
Looks like great riding! I've only been on my FZ1 through Idaho, we ripped on Little Joe Road, was a good time. When you say "stock rubber", are you referring to the Dunlop D605's?
I should state an assumption I'm making. I bought my '06 with 1200 miles so I'm assuming the tires on there are stock with that few clicks on the odometer.
Dunlop D603 up front. Pretty much useless in mud.
