Why do many change handlebars?

This is a curiousity question.

Why do many change their stock handlebars? I mean the ones on my 2012 and 2006 KLX 250s seemed to be fine.

Is it because it's steel or aluminum? Stock bars are painted? Angle, height? Brand name?

Again just curious

Thanks!

They are weak. Mine bent after 3 light falls. Friends bent after one. Also I need the bar height raised so the bike would fit me better.

Aside from apparent weakness as some have found, riders even on this forum range from like 5'5" to 6'4" and handlebars are the easiest way to adjust the cockpit.

Do you find Seel or Alumin better for you "stronger" ??

Thick walled aluminum. I have renthals on now.

They bend easy and aftermarket bars are easier to mount BarkBusters™

Im thinking about installing FLEXX bars. Anyone done this?

ohhhhhhhhhhh you guys are bending them when you drop the bike....well that's where you veered.:p:p:p insert if you aren't wrecking then you aren't riding fast enough....:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Yup, bent mine up pretty badly, so upgraded to something stronger. The lighter weight and better seating position were bonuses...
