Who's running the Acerbis Pro Rally Handguards?
I know I saw them in a pic on a forum somewhere! Any one running them here? If so, are they the universal fit ones and were there any issues during the install or is it fairly straightforward. I can handle mods, just wondering if there are any showstoppers [8D]
I haven't used them myself, but I know a few who have. You shouldn't have any problems other than same clearance problems you get with any handguards. These are often fixed with some homemade spacers, or careful placing of the front brake. If your crossbar gets in the way, you may have to trim the bars slightly.
Everyone always opts for the gigantic alluminum reinforced bark busters. But how often do you run into large trees with your bars, even in a tight wood line. I do alot of riding on Fort Bragg( home of dead wood, downed trees, high brush, and scrub oak. I don't see the need for crazy strong bark busters. Even the scaled down Acerbis rally guards are a bit much and also a tight fit. I went with Cycra MX stealth guards they have been perfect for me even when hitting 2inch thick downed tree branches.

I have the acerbis handguards and they are pretty simple to fit. However, you have to trim the front brake resavoir off. any more questions just ask. I have some pictures of them in my album.
I'm still open to suggestions, but I ran these Acerbis' on my previous CRF and a few times in the last year or so I slid out on slick trails, twice bending the handlebars when they hit the ground. And guess where my fingers were during that time....behind those aluminum guard bars ! Did they save my fingees from some magor/minor crushing or bruising? Who knows...but it's the wrecking, not the brush that concerns me. The stock guards should work fine for that kind of stuff.
Seems to me the ends are no problem. Any issue at the other end of the guard?

I'm not in a race usually so no need to hold the clutch on the way down, I just let go of the bike. Todd you need to get yourself some el cheapo mirrors so it doesn't matter if they break. But to each his own!
