when i changed oil...

Today i change oil for a first time when i bought klx, it has 1500miles. When i saw the old oil it looked like silver not brown. That interesting, for me it doesnt looks good. I changed for mobil 1 Racing T (for motorcycle). And another thing is the seal for the cover oil filter, i did not changed it becouse i couldnt find anywhere. Maybe the first owner didnt change the oil??? Or it is normal of color used motorcycle oil?? I have expirence with car engines and for me somthing is no good, but if the motorcycle engine works in high RPM so mabe that is normal. That my first bike ever, so i am green. Thanks for any sugestions.

normally on a motorcycle, you change the oil early the first few times so clear the metal out, its probably a lot of bearing and tranny metal that had been floating around. i did 400, 800, and 1500 miles. it should be ok though. as for the seal with the oil filter, i have never changed mine and my bike has 20,900 miles.

if it is milky, you might have coolant leak...

For a large number of members here that first oil change came at less that 50 miles.

Was the oil good and hot when you changed it? If not, you may have had some moisture in it, or, even a little air whipped in it. If it was hot, and it was actually silver in color, be glad you changed it. Most single-cylinder, wet-clutch, carburated engines enjoy oil changes a little more frequently...1500 is a bit further than I'd go on mine. But, you haven't killed it, so, don't fret too much about water that's gone under the bridge.

so, the oil wasnt hot, i just took bike from garage and drove like 5 min to my uncle shop, then i changed oil. so the oil couldnt be hot. I dont know how the first owner took care about it.

Around here, it's good to be GREEN!! :D

....as long as your oil is not.

Totally normal, we all had silver oil on the first oil change. ;)

Did my first change at around 70 miles, then one at about 800. The first change... the oil looked like new, but there were plently of sparkly things stuck in the filter. Second change... the sparkles were almost non-existent, and again, the oil was just slightly darker than new oil. I'm at about 1600 miles now, and will probably change it again soon. I do keep an eye on it in the sight glass, to make sure it isn't looking grungy...

I did a complete fluid change when I got my KLX with 1000 miles on it. I had lots of sparkles in the coolant.
