Default Whats up with RAD

Anyone have experience with these wheels or this company? Any thoughts? After looking around at other plug and play complete wheels these seem, dare I say, on the less expensive side...seems like a lot of kits are 1,300-1,600 complete.

Has anyone easily sourced new parts and built an extra set of wheels for under a grand? I'm open to another set of 18-21 which seems cheaper to do than a sumo set up. Although, sumo might be kind of sweet.

KLX 250/300 S or SF

Default Rad

RAD is just the hub assembly.

Pro-Cycle sells the complete wheel kit front and rear. they also use the RAD hubs inside the wheel.

super moto wheels are expensive, it would be cheaper to buy a SF model.

I've seen some Kawasaki motor bikes with Honda wheels, but they had access to a machine lathe and a lot of time.

just checked out the link you posted,

that's a good deal.

same parts company that pro cycle uses, that's a good sign.

the only difference I see, is that with pro-cycle you get everything installed on the wheel , seals and everything.

I didn't even know the wheels had seals.

?

Hmm, I wonder what all the differences are. Looks like with the Procycle set you still have to buy a rotor and sprocket. Im almost sick enough of swapping knobies and street tires that I'll spend the 1k for the second set of rims...but 1k is also a big bore kit and some cams, plus new bars and highway dirt bike hand guards...dang...

Default More newbie questions

Great thread! Thanks for posting.

As a newbie and a new rider of a 2014 KLX 250S, I've got a few questions if you don't mind. I've done some reading already and understand that its easier to have a second set of complete wheels to swap from ***** to street.

BUT..
Why is it that when you buy a set of rims to change to the SM that you have to downsize to 17" wheels? Wouldn't that mean that you also have to fix the wheel RPM calculations to the speedo? What about the odometer? Wouldn't that also be effected?

Do both rims need to be 17"? Couldn't you stay with the stock sizes and just put street tires on if you don't have the ability/knowledge (like me) to fix the speedo?

Thanks for the input!

Default Street tires

Yes you can put street tires on the stock 21 and 18 wheels. The next I purchase will be a Avon Supermoto. A local shop gets them at a lower cost than I can online because they also install them. All my friends keep telling me to get street tires and I don't do any off-roading, so it just makes since to have a street tire, being a street tire it will outlast a off-road tire on pavement. Possibly even handle better.

I have no idea when it comes to super motto wheels.
